  8. and why is it that this download starts without having to wait?

  10. this is because all files less than or equal to 32,767 bytes start immediately

  12. HASH 2 DIE FOR

  14. got a hash of a file your looking for?
  15. well, there are two ways to find that particular file:
  16. 1) enter the hash code in the title field of the search window
  17. it must look like this:
  18. HASH>1234567890abcdef1234567890abcdef-32768
  19. make sure you choose all connection types & all file types
  20. filling in the artist field is not needed
  21. note you must do this every time you restart winmx
  22. 2) creat a file of 0 bytes (untitled.txt) and rename it like this:
  23. __INCOMPLETE___I can create my own incomplete files!1234567890abcdef1234567890abcdef00008000.txt
  24. 2 leading underscores, incomplete in capitals, 3 trailing underscores
  25. followed by a name you are free to choose
  26. end the filename with 32+8=40 hexadecimal numbers (0-9-a-f) with
  27. the first 32 characters the same as the 32 found between HASH> and - in method 1)
  28. and the last 8 character the hexadecimal representation of the complete file size
  29. in this case 32768 decimal -> 00008000 hexadecimal
  30. choose an appropriate extension to be able to preview the file

  32. FOR EVER INCOMPLETE

  35. them clear your download list till you have say about 25 files left
  36. wait for them to complete, and add cleared files to fill up to 25 incomplete files again
  37. set all ya DLs to AFS-10 and AEQ-100 so they will get started
  38. if you have more than 25 files in your transfer window, it will take 25 * 15 = a lot of minutes for auto find sources to cycle the list
  39. you'll never find sources that way!!!
  40. stay below 30 no matter what, if the number drops too low, press Load Incomplete and clear till you have 25 left again
  41. this will save you a LOT of wait time

  53. rare large files are VERY hard to get complete
  54. by the time it's your turn to download from that nice person he disconnects
  55. or you get timeout after timeout and lost him
  56. the problem is that most people don't know they must set max no of uploads to 5 or 10
  57. some even use the 0 of 0 available cheat - well screw them
  58. devide your available upload bandwidth in such a way you upload at least at 1K/s
  59. do not go below 3 simultanous uploads, nor go above 10
  60. so if you have 256kbit up, you have 256/8=32K/s up, set max no of uploads to 8 so everyone gets 4K/s
  61. as long as everybody does this, you get guaranteed short wait times and you will download files more easily
  62. it is better to download slowly than not to download at all
  63. and besides that because it is easier to start downloading, think of how soon the available sources for that file could be doubled!

  68. don't move your recently completed files to a dir you do not share
  69. share good stuff & share large stuff & share all stuff you have - whatever your HD can take
  70. so you doing tha right thing and find some leech is trying to get his hands on your honest earned files?
  71. don't message him and don't tell him what to do - a leech knows perfectly well what he's doing

  78. don't waste your day chatting with someone you don't know
  79. just ask him or her what to trade - or become trade friends
  80. this is a p2p trading network, not for nice chats aboot how's the weather over there
  81. give friends more bandwidth, but do not cancel your current uploads
  82. that would be rude

  84. also do not block people cause they aren't trading
  85. if one shares MUCH he's more help to anyone than someone who trades only

  90. besides the lousy connection failures & bugs there are also users staying only for only 1 hour or so

  93. if you don't find it today you'll find it tomorrow
  94. if it DLs too slow, so what, @ least your DLing it!

  98. some people love polluting the p2p network with fake files & small banners
  99. remember their names, write down their IPs and publish were they live
  100. this is no place for noobs thinking trading is illegal
  101. stop sharing fake files ya saboture
  102. and remember to PREVIEW your DLs (by copying tha file to a temp dir)

  106. rare files are hard to get but
  107. not when your online all-day, all-week, all-month
  108. not when you use more than one p2p client (if you have enough bandwidth that is)
  109. not when you find someone with the same interrests as you
  110. not when you share your incomplete rare files (so other user DL it and will help you finding it)
